Junior Warden’s Report – Al Trogdon
The newly appointed Director of Honey Creek is Mr. Hamp Stevens. Mr. Trogdon will meet soon with the Director and plans for a welcome event will be made after Mr. Stevens has had some time to settle in his new position.

Senior Warden’s Report – Barbara Mathis

  • Mr. Trogdon and Mrs. Mathis will attend a Diocese Conference of the Laity in Savannah on September 13th to hear The Most Reverend Katherine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church.

  • The Prayer Circle for Our Savior at Honey Creek is now active. Those interested in joining can see Bonnie London or Blanche Zachry.

  • The church newsletter is continuing and will be mailed to newcomers in the geographic area as a part of the monthly news mailing by Mrs. Rawls of Prudential Realty. Our appreciation is owed to Mrs. Rawls for this gracious support of our church mission.

  • Attendance for the first year of operation for the mission has averaged 22 for the First Quarter, 19 for the Second Quarter, and currently stands at 15 for the Third Quarter. Father Logue reminded everyone that the summer months are always the lowest in terms of attendance and donations. Hopefully, attendance will improve now that schools are back in session and traditional vacation times are over.

  • At the suggestion of several members of the congregation, an addition to the Prayers of the People, Form III, will be added each week asking for the Lord’s guidance and help in finding a new vicar for Our Savior at Honey Creek.

Old Business

  • Father Frank Logue reported on conversations with Bishop Louttit and the Diocese staff concerning possibilities for continuing some financial support from the Diocese for a new vicar for Our Savior at Honey Creek. While no definite timelines or financial amounts have been established, the Bishop again relayed his commitment to support the mission and to help the mission find a new vicar. Father Logue is working with Diocese officials to identify those priests who might be available at least for a part-time position as vicar of Our Savior at Honey Creek. The Bishop expressed his desire that Father Logue convey to the congregation his continued support and faith that the church will grow and succeed.

  • Mrs. Mathis reported on her conversations with the Senior Warden of St. Mark’s in Woodbine about the possibilities of sharing the financial costs of clergy by each church having one-half of the services of a fulltime priest. It appears that St. Mark’s may already have obtained the services of a priest and is not in a position to share services at this time.

New Business

  • Plans for the Fall Membership Campaign were discussed. Efforts to involve the total congregation in the planning include a Vestry Questionnaire and informal sharing sessions at the “Coffee Sessions “after Sunday Worship Services.

  • The monthly meeting time for the Vestry was changed. In the future, the Vestry will meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 12:00 noon. As always, minutes are posted on the church website and parishioners are encouraged to ask questions of any Vestry member.

After a closing prayer by Father Logue, the meeting was adjourned at 3:45.
